Senegalese Food

Senegalese food has been an important part of Senegal. Senegal has all kinds of unique senegalese food. Some unique senegalese food incude, Thiéboudieune, Thiebou Diola or "C'est Bon", Soup Kandia, Yassa Guinar or Dieun, and Mafe. The national food dish of Senegal is Thiéboudieune. Thiéboudieune is a mixture of meats, rice, nokos, and lots of spices.

Nokes are a mixture of different spices including herbs such as parsley and lots of garlic. The rice is cooked with Thiof fish, which is a fish we call white grouper. The thiéboudieune is aslo served with many different types of vegetables.

The vegetables are simmered into the tomato sauce so it can be used to cook the rice. Only certain types of vegetables can be included in Thiéboudieune. Those vegetables include carrots, cabbage, cassava, eggplant, and okra. This dish can also be made using an onion sauce called "diaga". Diaga is made with diced carrots, fish balls, and a spoon of tomato sauce.
